EASA license skill test (LST) Private pilot license - PPL(A) - in general

EASA license skill test (LST) for initial issue of the private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - private pilot license - PPL(A) shall be carried out after completing the prescribed approved flight training provided by the flight school - approved training organization ATO. Flight School - ATO has recommend the applicant to carry out the practical flight test - for the EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A). Practical test - EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) can be performed only when passed the theoretical knowledge examination by the civil aviation authority.

EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) for an initial issue of the private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - private pilot license - PPL(A) is a subject to the provision of FCL.235 by the Part FCL, Regulation EC 1178/2011.

A candidate for the EASA license skill test (LST) for initial issue of EASA private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - private pilot license - PPL(A) have to show to the EASA flight examiner FE(A) ability to perform the maneuvers and procedures, skills and knowledge to act as pilot in command (PIC) on the aircraft category (in this case, the category of aircraft "aeroplane") with the competency appropriate to the privileges granted. Thus, the operations on the single engine piston aeroplanes - SEP(Land).

A candidate for a license skill test (LST) for intial issue of private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - private pilot license - PPL(A) shall have completed flight training on the aircraft of the same class or type as the one used for the EASA license skill test (LST). In our case it is the use of single engine piston aeroplanes - SEP(Land) of the same variant (such as DA-20 or DA-40), as was used for the flight training, and for which the applicant has been trained by the flight school.

The entire lenght of the examination -  EASA approved license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) takes approximately 3 up to 4 hours total. The test flight (EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A)) itself (flight with the EASA flight examiner) takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes up to 2 hours of the flight time. The rest of the time is used for the preparation of the check flight (route planning, briefing, debriefing and any oral theoretical knowledge examination).

The test flight itself - an EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) shall include, the following items:

  • general handling of the aeroplane (normal procedures)
  • general handling of the aeroplane (abnormal and emergency procedures)
  • cross country VFR flight via planned route
  • use of radio navigation aids (VOR, LOC, ILS, GNSS)

Route of the cross-country flight will be choosen by the flight examiner. The candidate is responsible for flight planning and he is also reponsible to ensure that all equippemnt and all documents, certificates and materials required for the flight are on board the aircraft during the examination flight.

Conditions for successful pass of the EASA private pilot license - PPL(A) license skill test (LST)

General conditions for successful pass of the examination flight - EASA license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) are more or less the same as for any other EASA flight test.

EASA license skill test (LST) for initial issue of the  private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - PPL (A) is splitted into different sections - section of the air check, representing the different phases of flight at the appropriate category (aeroplanes) and specific class of the aeroplane - single engine piston - SEP(Land) of the aeroplane used for the license skill test (LST).

If the applicant fails from any item of a section of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) he will fail the entire section of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A). If the applicant fails more than one section of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A), it means that the candidate failed the entire license skill test (LST) PPL (A).

If the candidate fails only one section of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) during the re-exam the candidate will only repeat that failed section.

During the re-exam of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A), fail out of any section, including the sections which have been passed already during a previous attempt, will cause the applicant failed from the entire license skill test (LST) private pilot aeroplanes - private pilot license - PPL(A).

If the candidate fails to pass successfully all of the sections of the license skill test (LST) private pilot license - PPL(A) during two attempts, the candidate will be required to undertake a further flight training provided by the flight school - approved training organization - ATO.

We provide an EASA license skill test (LST) for initial obtain of the private pilot licence (aeroplanes) - private pilot license - PPL(A) together with obtaining a class rating for single-engine piston aeroplanes - SEP(land) in the following EASA approved variants (types) of the aeroplanes within the class SEP(land):

  • Diamond DA-40TDi Star
  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk
  • Diamond DA-20-A1 Katana
